Following an impressive performance by a certain midfielder in the UEFA Champions League this week, Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly increased their interest in a French star.
All the talk was about Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele after Lyon’s 0-0 draw with the Blaugrana on Tuesday night, but another player was also believed to have caught the attention of Barca’s bosses.
According to L'Equipe, the Spanish club are interested in Houssem Aouar, a 20-year-old midfielder who has impressed this season in France.
The player was one of Lyon’s unsung heroes in their solid performance against the 2014/15 Champions League winners, and is believed to have gained several admirers.
Arsenal are also reportedly keeping a close watch on the French U21 international, who despite being born in France, is of Algerian descent.
The report also claims that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are interested in the player after he impressed the Spaniard during Lyon's group stage clashes with the Premier League leaders, though no official transfer bids have been made yet.
Aouar, whose contract at Lyon runs until 2023, has featured 34 times across all competitions this season, scoring six goals and assisting a further five strikes.
