FC Barcelona, who are reportedly on the lookout for a replacement for Andres Iniesta, have apparently identified a Manchester City star as a suitable candidate.
The Catalan outfit lost the Spanish international at the end of the past season, when he signed for Japanese side Vissel Kobe in a three-year deal.
According to The Sun, the Blaugrana are looking at Germany international Ilkay Gundogan as an option to replace the 34-year-old midfielder.
The former Borussia Dortmund star moved to the Etihad in 2016, but missed the majority of his first season in England due to a knee injury.
However, Gundogan played a significant role in City's 2017/18 Premier League title-winning campaign, which they won by a mammoth 19 points.
It has been suggested that the German is open to a move to Spain, although it seems unlikely the Citizens will want to sell him.
However, Pep Guardiola's side has been heavily linked with Napoli star Jorginho in recent weeks, and if they do sign the Italy international, his arrival may open the door for the 27-year-old German to leave.
Gundogan made 49 appearances for the Citizens last season, scoring six goals and assisting a further seven strikes.
