Reports: FC Barcelona Eye Manchester City Star As Andres Iniesta Replacement

By Keegan Kruger - Jun 15, 2018 02:05 PM @KeeganKruger

FC Barcelona, who are reportedly on the lookout for a replacement for Andres Iniesta, have apparently identified a Manchester City star as a suitable candidate.

Barca Star Wants Former Player Back At Club

The Catalan outfit lost the Spanish international at the end of the past season, when he signed for Japanese side Vissel Kobe in a three-year deal.

According to The Sun, the Blaugrana are looking at Germany international Ilkay Gundogan as an option to replace the 34-year-old midfielder.

The former Borussia Dortmund star moved to the Etihad in 2016, but missed the majority of his first season in England due to a knee injury.

However, Gundogan played a significant role in City's 2017/18 Premier League title-winning campaign, which they won by a mammoth 19 points.

It has been suggested that the German is open to a move to Spain, although it seems unlikely the Citizens will want to sell him.

However, Pep Guardiola's side has been heavily linked with Napoli star Jorginho in recent weeks, and if they do sign the Italy international, his arrival may open the door for the 27-year-old German to leave.

Xavi Slams Sacked Spain Boss Over Real Decision

Gundogan made 49 appearances for the Citizens last season, scoring six goals and assisting a further seven strikes.

Do you think the former Bundesliga star would be an ideal replacement for Iniesta at the Camp Nou? Have your say in the comments section below.

@khosibybirth548 wabalabala. Bobby told you guys that he did not apply for any post at Chiefs and you must not yadayada about this team. He will do what is necessary for Chiefs family. There is Chiefs way and supporters way. Relax boy boy. Heart attack is dangerous. Loving chiefs is like refusing to quit smoking while you have lungs problems. The easist and nicest way is to quit or swim with Bobby.

This is not only happening to Chiefs. Many other teams are losing players on free transfers. I have also noted that a lot of people are being referred to as Chiefs targets even though there hasn't been a clear indication there there had ever been serious negotiations. Various publications are very much aware of the fact that Chiefs sells, thus deeming it profitable to compose nonsensical articles on "Chiefs targets." Be that as it may, we the Khosinstion are very much disappointed that our club seems to be approaching the market no differently this time around. We are concerned that even this time around we could end up deploying a garbage truck to collect players from Zimbabwe. Motaung doesnt realise that if one has to recruit a player from Zimbabwe, that player has to be an exceptional talent, something that doesn't come out regularly from that country. Chirambandares and others were not better that our own players in MDC.
