Reports: Barcelona Want To Get Rid Of Midfielder
Spanish giants FC Barcelona are reportedly looking to get rid of a midfielder they spent R516 million on, after initially beating Real Madrid to his signature.
According to AS, the Catalans will offload Andre Gomes at the end of the season, despite spending £31.5 million (R516 million) on him in 2016.
The 24-year-old has struggled to find his feet at the club, which is said to be reason for the board wanting to sell him.
It is believed that the Portuguese international has not coped well with the pressure of playing for a club as big as Barca, which has disappointed club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The player was reportedly close to leaving the Spanish side last season, with Manchester United and Juventus said to be interested in his services.
Gomes has contributed to just seven goals in the 69 matches he has played for Barca, and has often been on the receiving end of boos by his own supporters.
