FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has reportedly asked the club to secure the services of a certain African star as his next signing.
The Catalan giants have already signed Dani Alves on a free transfer, although the Brazilian is only eligible to feature for the first team from January.
Xavi is reportedly keen on bolstering his squad in the next transfer window, especially with reports floating around about Sergio Aguero possibly retiring.
Spanish publication Sport has now reported that Barcelona are interested in Algeria international and Al Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah.
The 29-year-old played under Xavi at Al Sadd, and has registered an impressive 159 goals in 155 appearances for the Qatar-based outfit.
Algeria head coach Djamel Belmadi recently revealed that Xavi is an admirer of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winner.
"The current Barca is not the Barcelona of [Lionel] Messi, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta. In our timing, I don't know if Xavi has in mind to bring him [Bounedjah] back to Barcelona, but I know he likes him a lot," the Algeria coach told TSA Algerie.
