FC Barcelona did not inform Antoine Griezmann that they were negotiating a reported swap deal with his former club Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona's financial problems have been well documented over the past year and they desperately need to reduce their wage bill in order to register their new signings and Lionel Messi.
Griezmann is said to be one of the Catalans side's top earners, with reports claiming he is earning £345,000-a-week at the Camp Nou.
As a result, Barcelona have become a bit more open to the idea of off-loading the 2018 World Cup winner and have reportedly been in conversation with Atletico about swap deal involving Saul Niguez.
RMC journalist Loic Tanzi has now reported that things could get complicated after talks took place without Griezmann's knowledge.
"The situation is now a little more complicated," he said on Twitter.
"The negotiations between the two clubs took place without Griezmann knowing.
"And the salary difference is significant. Negotiations are continuing but Barcelona must find a solution."
