The 22-year-old was recalled from a loan at Real Sociedad after impressing last season with seven goals and nine assists, but has made only nine appearances for Real since without being involved in any goals.
According to El Confidencial, Odegaard has now agreed to join Arsenal on loan until the end of the campaign, although the Gunners will not have an option to buy the Norwegian.
Sociedad were also interested in signing the attacking midfielder but pushed for a purchase option, putting Arsenal in a better position to acquire his services.
Should the transfer be confirmed, it will be Odegaard's fourth loan move since joining the Spanish giants as a 16-year-old in 2015.
