It is believed that Real Madrid are close to beating rivals FC Barcelona to a Brazilian wonderkid who is widely thought of as "the next Neymar".
According to Marca, Los Blancos could soon announce the signing of Santos attacker Rodrygo Goes, who recently became the first player to score a hat-trick in Brazil's top flight in 2018.
The 17-year-old is widely considered to be one of the best young players in Brazil at the moment, with many even comparing him to Selecao superstar Neymar.
Real are said to be willing to spend about €45 million (R679 million) on the forward, while the Blaugrana are said to have offered only €30 million (R453 million) for the youngster.
It is also believed that Santos president Jose Carlos Peres would be more willing to enter into discussions with Real than Barca, due to the controversy that erupted around Neymar's switch to Spain in 2013.
If Los Blancos do sign Rodrygo, his move might be similar to that of Vinicius Junior, who will only officially join the club in the 2018/19 campaign after agreeing to join them in May 2017.
Rodrygo has played 16 matches for Santos' senior side so far, scoring six goals and assisting a further two strikes.
