A Real Madrid star has insisted he had no intention of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this season, despite being linked with a move to the Premier League during the off-season.
Spain international Marco Asensio, who struggled to cement his place in Los Blancos' first team last season, was tipped to leave the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners after Liverpool reportedly showed some interest in him.
After his match-winning performance against Croatia on Tuesday, however, the forward insisted that leaving Real was never an option.
"I've never had the intention to go anywhere," Asensio said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"This is my third season. In this one, I think I have continuity and more prominence, and I'm seeing the performance I'm doing."
The 22-year-old has won eight trophies with Real since joining them from Mallorca in 2015, including two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups, one LaLiga crown and a Spanish Super Cup.
