A Real Madrid star celebrated his ninth year at Los Blancos on Tuesday, but some reports suggest that he has now hinted at an exit from the club with his recent social media post.
France international Karim Benzema's future at the Madrid club has often been brought into question, and there are new rumours he and teammate Gareth Bale could be sold in this transfer window.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the forward has now fuelled the speculation after posting the message below on the ninth anniversary of his Real arrival (on Tuesday) on Twitter, with many interpreting it as a farewell of sorts.
"Nine years ago I wore the Real Madrid T-shirt for the first time," he wrote.
"Thanks to the president, the whole club, the players AND to all the coaches with whom I coincided.
"Proud to defend this badge and eternally grateful."
It has been suggested by some that the statement can be read as a goodbye to Real's fans, with the striker currently linked with a switch to Serie A side Napoli.
The Naples side has reportedly put in a £36 million (R641 million) bid for Benzema, with former Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti, now manager of Napoli, apparently keen to reunite with the frontman.
