Zinedine Zidane has repeatedly insisted that he is happy with his squad and January additions are unlikely.
However, Inter Milan striker, Mauro Icardi could reportedly still arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu before the January deadline on Wednesday.
Real are prepared to pay €106 million (R1.57 billion) for the striker, with Mateo Kovacic going the other way, according to Argentine journalist Leandro Montoya, as cited by Calciomercato.com.
Icardi has scored 18 goals in 24 appearances for Inter this season, but couldn’t prevent the Serie A giants' recent slump in form, which saw them failing to win any of their last seven Serie A games, drawing five and losing two games.
Real, meanwhile, are reportedly keen to add more firepower to their squad, with Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale failing to hit the back of the next as regularly as in previous seasons.
The player himself fuelled transfer rumours by posting a cryptic “bye bye” post on his Instagram account. Icardi posted the slogan “growing up means being able to say goodbye” in Spanish and it remains to be seen whether he will indeed join Real over the next two days.
