Real Beat Barca To Another Talent
Real Madrid Beat FC Barcelona To Another Talent
Spanish giants Real Madrid have not made any addition to their first team in the January transfer window so far, but have beaten bitter rivals FC Barcelona to another young talent.
Despite sitting 19 points behind Barca in the league standings, manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that his club will not be making any first team additions this month.
However, Los Blancos has continued with their focus on "project youth", beating the Blaugrana to the signature of 17-year-old Fran Rivera
The youngster joins the club from Cadiz for a fee of €100 000 (R1.48 million), plus several add-ons based on his future development, as confirmed by the club's CEO, Quique Pina.
"Fran Rivera's transfer is €100 000 plus a lot more variables," Pina told AS.
"If he plays in the first team, if he becomes an international, how many games he plays, it depends on a lot of things. There are a lot of clauses that ensure Cadiz benefit if the player triumphs at Real Madrid."
Rivera is not the first talented youngster to opt to join Real rather than Barcelona this season, after Dani Ceballos – the Player of the Tournament at the 2017 UEFA U21 Championship – moved to the Santiago Bernabeu at the beginning of the season amid interest from the Catalan giants.
