As much as the age-old debate as to who is better between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will be around forever, so will the question as to which league, the Premier League or LaLiga, is the world's superior division. A former striker, who played in both countries, believes the two leagues are now on a similar level.
During his 16-year career, Frederic Kanoute played in four different countries and leagues, including the Premier League and LaLiga.
In England, the former Mali international represented West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, while he wore the colours of Sevilla in Spain.
During Soccer Laduma's recent visit to Madrid with LaLiga, Kanoute, in an exclusive interview, explained how he believes the two leagues are now at a very similar level compared to when he was playing.
"I think now it's becoming more and more similar in the way the football is played," he said.
"Football is football at the end of the day, and if you want to be the best, you have to take the best of any country, and that's what is happening right now.
"I think, before, it was like 'Oh, in Spain we play this kind of football' and 'In England, we play this kind of football', but I think now it has become more level.
"You still have some differences, a different culture, a different feeling about football.
"A few years ago, Spain was a little bit above, we could see this mainly with the European competitions, now we can see that in England is becoming really strong with top teams.
"We saw that last year when only English clubs were in finals."
Kanoute scored 44 goals in 144 Premier League appearances, while he struck 89 times in 209 matches in LaLiga.
