LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they have signed a Portugal international, who participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, on a five-year deal.
Former Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins joins the Spanish club after becoming a free agent at the end of last season.
The 23-year-old, who was born in Cape Verde, made his senior debut for Sporting in 2015, in the Taca de Portugal against Belenenses, when he was just 19 years old.
Atletico have welcomed the Portuguese star, who is described as a pacy player who can cause defenders problems, in a statement on their official website.
"Our club is incorporating a pacy right winger who has also been deployed as a second striker and even right-back," the statement read.
"His speed and fine dribbling skills make him a valued addition to our team and a threat to the opposition's defenders. Welcome to Atletico de Madrid, Gelson!"
Martins made 52 appearances for Sporting last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting a further 13 strikes.
