A Brazilian star, who is expected to join FC Barcelona in January 2019, has explained why he is disappointed that Andres Iniesta will leave the Catalan giants at the end of the season.

Iniesta Opens Up About Barca Exit

The signing of Gremio midfielder Arthur was confirmed earlier this year, but the player is only expected to join the Blaugrana next year January.

The 21-year-old recently admitted in an interview that he is saddened by Iniesta’s imminent departure, as the Spaniard has been someone he has always admired.

"I'm sad," he told Sport.

"I started to understand football in another way watching Iniesta play with Barcelona.

"He was an example to follow for me, someone who, from a distance, I tried to use as a reference.

"On the other hand, we have to see that he will leave Barça with his head up and having given many titles to the club.

"His career has been impressive. I hope everything goes very well in China.

"I had hoped to be able to share a wardrobe with him. It was a dream to be on the same team, but God willing, we will meet one day later, whether it is playing or not and I can give him a hug."

Arthur has played 44 senior team games for Gremio in Brazil, and there has been rumours that because of Iniesta’s upcoming exit, they could attempt to bring him to Spain in August.
