With Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo having shattered record after record over the years, FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has now commented on the idea of the superstar duo playing alongside each other.
With 10 Ballons d'Or between them, Messi and Ronaldo are widely considered by many to be the greatest footballers the world has ever seen.
When discussing the chance of Messi and Ronaldo playing in the same team recently, Bartomeu explained that he thinks they would be great colleagues due to their wealth of talent alone.
"Good players are always compatible," Bartomeu was quoted as saying by Daily Star.
"They would understand each other a thousand wonders."
Bartomeu, who has been the Catalan giants' president since 2014, also revealed that Barcelona have no intention of letting Messi leave the club, claiming that the Argentine superstar will get a contract extension in the future
"There will be another renewal of Messi, not this year," he added.
"We have Messi for many more years. He is the best player in history."
Messi became the first player to reach the 20-goal mark across Europe's top five leagues after netting a brace in Barca's 2-2 draw with Valencia last week.
The Blaugrana skipper has been in prolific form for the LaLiga giants this season, finding the back of the net on 29 occasions and assisting a further 17 strikes in 28 appearances across all competitions.
