Valencia Grab Top Spot On LaLiga Opening Day

Valencia 4-2 Levante

Valencia claimed a 3-2 victory over Levante at the Mestalla on Sunday in their opening match of the La Liga season.

Jose Luis Morales opened the scoring for Levante in the opening minute before Gabriel Paulista equalised for the hosts.

Morales restored Levante's lead but Maximiliano Gonzales and a late brace from Manu Vallejo completed the turnaround for Valencia, who took up first position in the standings.

Granada 2-0 Athletic Bilbao

Granada began their La Liga campaign on a positive note with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at Carmenes Stadium on Saturday.

Yangel Herrera and Luis Mila scored in the space of four minutes shortly after the half-time interval to give the hosts all three points.

Cadiz 0-2 Osasuna

Osasuna got their La Liga season off to a winning start with a 2-0 win over Cadiz at Estadio Ramon de Carranza on Saturday.

Adrian Lopez and Ruben Garcia got the goals in the first and second half respectively for Jagoba Arrasate's side.

Alaves 0-1 Real Betis

Cristian Tello was the hero as his last-gasp winner claimed all three points for Real Betis in a 1-0 victory over Alaves at Mendizorroza on Sunday.

In a tightly-contested affair, neither side was unable to break the deadlock until Tello popped up in the fourth minute of injury time to snatch the win for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Valladolid 1-1 Real Sociedad

Real Valladolid and Real Sociedad could not be separated as the sides played to a 0-0 draw at Jose Zorrilla on Sunday.

Michel opened the scoring for the hosts but Roberto Lopez Alcaide scored with ten minutes to go to claim a share of the spoils for the Basque outfit.

Huesca 1-1 Villarreal

Villareal had to settle for just a point despite dominating in their 1-1 draw with Huesca at Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday.

El Submarino Amarillo enjoyed 66 percent of possession in the encounter but trailed through Pablo Maffeo's 42nd minute strike until Gerard Moreno equalised from the penalty spot.
