Atletico Off To Winning Start In Heated LaLiga Clash
Atletico Madrid 1-0 Getafe
Atletico Madrid got their LaLiga campaign off to a winning start after overcoming Getafe in a heated encounter on Sunday night.
Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for Atletico on 23 minutes after turning home a cross from off-season signing Kieran Trippier.
Getafe were reduced to 10 men on 38 minutes when Jorge Molina was shown a straight red card before Atletico's Renan Lodi received his marching order after picking up two yellows in quick succession before the break.
The drama continued in the second half as Atletico were awarded penalty on 56 minutes, which Morata failed to convert from 12-yards out although the hosts were able to hold on for the win.
Deportivo Alaves 1-0 Levante
Deportivo Alaves made a winning start to the LaLiga season after defeating Levante 1-0 at Estadio de Mendizorroza.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Joselu grabbed the game's all-important winner in the 54th minute.
Espanyol 0-2 Sevilla
Sevilla managed to secure the spoils at the RCDE Stadium, with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol on Sunday evening.
On-loan Real Madrid full-back Reguilón opened the scoring just before the halftime break before Nolito wrapped up the points in the 86th minute.
Real Betis 1-2 Real Valladolid
Real Betis struck late in the second half to secure a 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Betis were dealt a blow after just eight minutes when goalkeeper Joel Robles was sent off before Sergi Guardiola put the visitors ahead on 63 minutes.
Loren Moron levelled matters five minutes later before Oscar Plano sealed the win for Valladolid in the 89th minute.
