Barca Loanee Shines As Real Suffer Embarrassing Defeat

LaLiga
Result: Eibar 3-0 Real Madrid
Date: 24 November 2018
Venue: Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa
Real Madrid missed the chance to close the gap on FC Barcelona in LaLiga after they suffered a shock 3-0 loss to Eibar on Saturday afternoon.
Santiago Solari took charge of the side for the first time since taking over on a permanent basis, and he once again decided to leave Isco on the bench.
It was a fairly open start to the encounter, although Los Blancos' Karim Benzema had an effort cleared off the line after 12 minutes.
Six minutes later, Eibar took the lead as Escalante poked home from close range after Thibaut Courtois had saved Fabian Orellana's initial effort.
Los Blancos seemed stunned by the opening goal and struggled to mount any serious attempt as the likes of Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale struggled to make an impact.
That proved to be the trend for the rest of the half as Solari's men went into the halftime break trailing.
Seven minutes into the second half, Eibar found themselves two goals up as Marc Cucurella - on loan from Barca - managed to steal possession before picking out Sergi Enrich, who slotted past Thibaut Courtois.
It was 3-0 in the 57th minute when Enrich turned provider to pick out Kike with a dangerous cross, and the latter made no mistake from close range.
In an attempt to salvage a result, Solari first introduced Isco after the hour mark before Vinicius Junior replaced Asensio in the 76th minute.
However, it was Eibar who continued to attack as Courtois had to be at his best to keep out Charles' instinctive flick in the box with 12 minutes remaining.
Nevertheless, Los Blancos were unable to find a way past the Eibar backline as the encounter ended 3-0 to hosts, with Solari registering his first defeat as Real manager.
