Antoine Griezmann was back among the goals as Atletico Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win over Huesca in LaLiga on Tuesday evening.
Diego Simeone's returned to winning ways over the weekend, and were looking to put together a good to catch up with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The hosts got off to quiet start, but Antoine Griezmann grabbed the lead for Diego Simeone’s charges in the 16th minute after scoring into an empty net after he was set-up by the unselfish Diego Costa inside the six-yard box, 1-0.
The gulf in class was glaringly obvious after 20 minutes as Huesca could hardly keep possession for more than a few seconds.
Ghana international Thomas Partey doubled the lead for the hosts in the 29th minute with an unstoppable strike from 30-yards after being given enough space to angle his shot into the top corner, 2-0.
Koke made it 3-0 for Atletico four minutes later with a lobbed effort over goalkeeper Axel Werner after some good work by Thomas Lemar in the build up.
The tempo of the match was fizzling out towards the end of the first stanza and the hosts went into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The second stanza started slowly with both sides seeing a lot of possession in midfield, although Atletico were quite comfortable to just move the ball around.
Simeone opted for a double change for the final 20 minutes as Gelson Martins and Nikola Kalinic replaced Griezmann and Costa.
The tempo of the clash fizzled out as the draw to a close, with neither side showing any attacking intent as the encounter ended 3-0 on the night.
Atletico will now turn their attention to Saturday's derby against Real Madrid.
