LaLiga Player Ruben Semedo Arrested For Alleged Kidnapping
A LaLiga player has been arrested for an alleged kidnapping, assault and robbery after reportedly threatening the victim with guns.
Villarreal’s Ruben Semedo was detained by police in Valencia on Tuesday, after an official complaint by the victim reached Spain’s Guardia Civil court.
The defender and his cousin were allegedly holding the complainant against his will in the player’s house, threatening him with pistols and fired shots to intimidate him, according to AS.
They then took the keys to victim's apartment and allegedly stole money as well as “other things that could implicate the footballer”.
It’s not the first time that the Portugal U21 international has been arrested after Semedo was already detained in January for allegedly threatening an employee of a night club with a firearm.
Villarreal confirmed on Tuesday that they have opened disciplinary proceedings against their own player.
"Following the events that have been revealed this morning regarding our first team footballer Ruben Semedo, Villarreal wants to express its maximum concern and announces it has opened a disciplinary file on the player to investigate what happened,” read a club statement.
"The club will take the necessary disciplinary measures it deems pertinent with maximum rigour and strictness in view of the severity of the events."
