It has been announced that Celta Vigo striker Santi Mina will serve four years behind bars for sexually abusing a woman in 2017.
The 26-year-old has also been handed a fine of €50 000 (R833 million).
His then-teammate David Goldar, said to be his accomplice in the incident, has been acquitted of all charges, meanwhile, with Mina having continued to play for Celta during the period in which he was on trial.
The club, however, announced on Wednesday that the player would immediately be removed from first-team duties as they open their own investigation into the player.
