The 31-year-old might play a starring role for the Blaugrana, and adds strength and dynamism to their already powerful midfield.
With Andres Iniesta and Paulinho having left in this window, Ernesto Valverde might see Vidal as someone who can add great experience to his team, and perhaps he will offer far more than just that.
In the manager's strongest side, Germany international Marc-Andre ter Stegen will undoubtedly start in goal, with the backline consisting of the same four stars – Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti, Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto – as last season.
Nelson Semedo and new signing Clement Lenglet might have to wait for their turn early in the season, although there will be plenty of opportunities for them to impress in the long campaign.
In his usual pivot position will be midfielder Sergio Busquets, who is one of the longest-serving players in the team. Important to how the team plays, the 30-year-old is indispensable to this Barca side, and is still widely considered as one of the best holding midfielders in world football.
Valverde might still rely on the ever-consistent Ivan Rakitic in the right central midfield position, while Vidal could occupy the left central midfield spot, where the great Iniesta used to play. The robust Chilean could thrive in that specific role, although he has also been known to play deeper.
His arrival at the Camp Nou might then send Brazil international Philippe Coutinho further forward, where he would drift in-field from the left-side of attack on to his favoured right-foot. The former Liverpool playmaker has been brilliant for Barca since his arrival at the club in January, scoring most of his goals after cutting in from that side.
Striker Luis Suarez and superstar Lionel Messi would, unsurprisingly, make up the rest of the XI, leaving the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Malcom, Lenglet and Arthur Melo on the bench, among others.
