The Blaugrana defender is one of the owners of Segunda Division B (Spain's third tier) side Andorra, who recently appointed Eder Sarabia, who worked as an assistant coach under Quique Setien at Barca, as their new manager.
Sarabia, who was Pique's coach at Barcelona and now finds himself working for the Andorra part-owner, has since revealed how the defender lured him to the club.
"This week he called me, we've been talking," Sarabia said at his unveiling, as quoted by ESPN journalist Samuel Marsden.
"One of the things that surprised me is his implication in the project, his knowledge of the team, the league. He's seen all the games, some more than once."
Sarabia reportedly had a fallout with Messi during his time working under Setien at Barca, with the Argentine said to have been upset with the coach's vocal sideline antics.
The Spanish tactician has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Andorra, and has been tasked with helping the club secure promotion to LaLiga 2, Spain's second division.
