The famous Camp Nou was built in 1957 and currently has a capacity of 99 354, but needs some upgrading due to its age.
Barcelona announced in 2016 that the club had agreed to a remodelling process, which will happen in stages without the stadium having to be closed.
The arena's new capacity will be 105 000, and it will have a roof and guarantee better visibility from all seats, while Barca will collect rain water from the roof and also use solar energy to be more sustainable.
The new Camp Nou will also have an open facade formed by three concourse rings, with the overall project initially budgeted at between €600 million (R12 billion) and €685 million (R13.8 billion), according to Marca.
The initial plan was for the revamp to be finished in the 2020/21 campaign, but this has been set back with 2024 now being marked down as the year the renovation of the new Camp Nou will be completed.
