Former Real Madrid star Royston Drenthe was declared bankrupt this week.
The Dutchman joined Los Blancos in 2007 after starring at the U21 UEFA European Championship that year, winning the tournament with the Netherlands and also claiming the Golden Ball.
However, he never lived up to expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu and left the club in 2012, having made 65 appearances for Los Blancos before being loaned out to Hercules and then Everton.

He has played for eight different teams since, and now features for Dutch amateur side Kozakken Boys.
On Tuesday this week, however, he was declared bankrupt by a court in Breda.
"I'm not easily shocked by things. I don't know the full ins and outs and I don't know exactly what is happening, but if it is what I think it is, it's not so important," he told Dutch publication Voetbalzone, which reported the news.
Drenthe seemingly believes this is all down to negligence by his accountant, while Dutch media has hinted that his expensive lifestyle, including mansions, ex-wives, traffic fines and other projects such as clothing shops and a side career in acting and rapping, could be behind his financial woes.
