Spanish giants FC Barcelona have confirmed the Brazilian will return to his former club Guangzhou Evergrande for a season-long loan, after which the Chinese club will pay €50 million (R788 million) to make the deal permanent, according to Marca.
The fee is the third-highest the Catalan club has ever received for a player, the highest being the €222 million (R3.5 billion) the 2017/18 LaLiga champions got for Neymar from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The team's second-most expensive sale was Portugal legend Figo's transfer to arch-rivals Real Madrid back in 2000. Los Blancos were forced to pay €60 million (R945 million) for the winger, who was quickly branded a traitor by Barca's fans as a result.
The Spanish side's fourth-largest sale was Chile international Alexis Sanchez, who moved to Arsenal for €40 million (R630 million), while in fifth place is Cesc Fabregas, who cost Chelsea €33 million (R520 million) in 2014.
Making up the rest of the Blaugrana's 10 most expensive sales ever are Yaya Toure, Pedro Rodriguez, Ronaldinho, Thiago Alcantara and Ronaldo Nazario.
