FC Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has said his side will use the game against Mamelodi Sundowns as a training match and hinted that superstar Lionel Messi could play 45 minutes.
The Blaugrana coach spoke to the press ahead of his side’s second-last LaLiga game at Levante on Sunday.
Valverde also addressed the match against Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, saying he will prepare two different teams.
His comments suggest Barca superstars such as Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho could play 45 minutes, while he is likely to field a weaker side in some part of game.
"The friendly in South Africa? We take it as a kind of training, I will do two teams and we will fulfill the club's commitments next week," he said in a press conference, as quoted by @BarcaUniversal.
Barcelona lost their game at Levante 5-4 on Sunday, which was their first defeat in LaLiga this season. Messi was rested during the clash and many expect him to play some part in the so-called clash of the champions on Wednesday.
It is the second time that the Catalan giants face off with Masandawana after 2007, when Barca beat Downs 2-1.
