The Madrid outfit have apparently been long-time admirers of Tottenham Hotspur and England international Harry Kane but recent reports suggest that Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is also being closely monitored.
Roman Calderon, who was the club's president between 2006 and 2009, believes the 24-year-old Englishman is Real’s No. 1 transfer target for next season but feels they may end up settling for the Polish star, due to financial constraints.
“The objective for Real Madrid, no doubt, is Kane," Calderon told The Sun.
“If they want a player for the next five or six years they are going to go for Kane but (Spurs chairman Daniel) Levy is going to ask a fortune for him.
“As far as I know, Tottenham is not willing to let him go but Bayern also says Lewandowski is not going anywhere.
“(Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge has said he can bet that he will be in Bayern next season but we have heard that so many times, and in my experience, it is the player who has the final decision of where to go.”
Zinedine Zidane has mentioned on a few occasions that he has no plans to replace Benzema, although many are suggesting that the Frenchman's time at the Santiago Bernabeu is up.
