A Real Madrid star has responded to claims that Spain boss Luis Enrique has an alleged Barcelona bias in his national team selections.
Enrique, being a former Barca boss and a Catalan at heart, did not select a single Los Blancos player for the 2020 European Championship earlier this year, including defender Sergio Ramos.
However, Real fullback Dani Carvajal has come to the defence of his national team boss, saying that Enrique is definitely not biased and only has the interests of La Furia Roja at heart.
"When I've heard that opinion, I've tried to explain that he isn't," the right-back told Marca.
"The coach tries to call up the people he thinks will help him in what he wants, regardless of the team they play for.
"He has proved that. It's his way, his philosophy and his idea."
Spain are currently in second place in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification group, and will take on Greece and Sweden in the current international break in a bid to move to the top of the group.
