Copa Del Rey
Result: Valencia 0-2 FC Barcelona (Barca won 3-0 on aggregate)
Date: 08 February 2018
FC Barcelona secured their ticket to the Copa del Rey final after defeating Valencia 3-0 on aggregate in their semi-final tie.
The Catalan giants held a slender lead heading into the clash as Luis Suarez's solitary strike secured a 1-0 win at the Camp Nou in the first leg.
Valencia got off to a promising start as Rodrigo rattled the crossbar with a header from close range after 14 minutes.
The home side continued to threaten as the half went on and they went close in the 28th minute when Jasper Cillessen superbly turned way Simone Zaza's powerful strike.
Chances were hard to come by for the visitors but they carved out an opening on the stroke of half time when Ivan Rakitic picked out Luis Saurez, who failed to trouble Jaume Domenech from close range.
Five minutes into the second half, Barca broke the deadlock with Philippe Coutinho bagging his first for the club with a fine finish at the far post, 0-1.
Valencia responded with a couple changes, with Gancalo Guedes and Carlos Soler replacing Francis Coquelin and Rodrigo.
The changes proved ineffective for the home side as Barca looked more threatening as the second stanza continued.
That was the case with eight minutes remaining when Suarez skipped past two defenders before picking out Rakitic, who calmly slotted past Domench, 0-2.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as Barca ran out 2-0 winners on the night and 3-0 on aggregate.
Ernesto Valverde's charges will now face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final in a repeat of the 2016 final.
