Valencia Stage Comeback In Copa Del Rey First Leg

Valencia rallied back from two goals down to register a 2-2 draw with Real Betis in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie on Thursday night.

The home side were forced to make a change after just ten minutes when defender Marc Bartra limped off and was replaced by Javi Garcia.

The game's first opening arrived after 28 minutes when as Carlos Soler did well to pick out Rodrigo in the box, but Joel Robles was on hand to deny the forward with a good save.

Betis carved out a couple chances of their own with ten minutes remaining, although Andrés Guardado was unable to capitalise on both occasions in the box.

The hosts enjoyed possession for the remaining stages of the half, and they were rewarded on the stroke of halftime when Loren Moron fired past Jaume Domenech.

Ten minutes into the second half, Betis doubled their advantage through Veteran winger Joaquin, who scored directly from a corner.

Valencia gave themselves hope in the tie after netting an away goal through former Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev with 20 minutes remaining.

The visitors did managed to bag an equaliser in the second minute of time added on courtesy of a strike from Kevin Gameiro as Valencia take two away goals into the second leg at the end of the month.
