Barcelona director Mateu Alemany has confirmed the club's No.9 for next season as they continue to be linked with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Xavi Hernandez has steered Barcelona into the direction since taking over from Ronald Koeman in November last year, as they look on course to finish in the top four.
The Catalans bolstered their squad quite significantly in the January transfer window after getting Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on permanent deals, while Adama Traore joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, it seems the club have ruled themselves out of contention for Mbappe and Haaland after Alemany revealed Aubameyang will be their main striker next season.
“Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will be Barcelona’s number 9 next season," the director said, as per the Sun.
“We are more than happy with Auba and his performances.”
He added, “I don’t speak about players who have a contract with other clubs, that’s not our style. We keep an eye on all situations regarding the market.
"The nine for next year is Aubameyang and starting from that point, we will keep an eye on any opportunities.”
