FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde's contract at the club expires at the end of the season, and he has now commented on his future at the club.

The 54-year-old's future remains unclear as he heads into the final year of his contract with the Catalan giants.

Valverde led Barcelona to success in the LaLiga an d Copa del Rey in his maidens season with the club, although they did disappoint in the UEFA Champions League.

However, the Barca coach insists it's too early in the season to be talking about a contract extension.

"I've got a contract at the moment. I do have the option of extending it by another year," Valverde was quoted as saying by FootballEspana.

"But you know how things go in football. Seasons are long and you have to see how things progress.

"It's still only September, it's too early to talk about it."
