Antoine Griezmann returns to the Spanish capital for the first time since joining FC Barcelona, but one Atletico Madrid star says supporters who boo the Frenchman must be respected.
Griezmann left Atletico for the Catalan giants in the previous transfer window after his €120million release clause was triggered.
It hasn't been the easiest of starts for the World Cup winner, but he is expected to feature at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday evening.
Atletico star Koke understands that his former teammate could get a icy reception as he is seen as a rival now.
“People have their opinion and you have to respect it,” he said when asked if Atleti fans will whistle and boo Griezmann, as per Football Espana.
“There are people for all opinions and you have to respect it. I keep it to myself. We will see what happens and we are focused on the game.
“In his five years here he gave everything to Atlético, he is a rival and we play against Barcelona, not only against Griezmann. We want to give everything we have; it is a special match for everyone. We will try to do our best.”
