Atletico Madrid Eye England Star As Shock Antoine Griezmann Replacement
LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking at replacing France superstar Antoine Griezmann with an England international who is going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
According to the Daily Mirror, Diego Simeone is considering a shock move for Leicester City's Jamie Vardy should Griezmann leave the Rojiblancos.
It has been suggested that the Argentine manager was impressed by the Englishman's performances in the UEFA Champions League this season, and feels he would complement Diego Costa's rugged style of play.
Griezmann is not the only striker Atletico need to replace, though, as the club will also be losing the services of their legend Fernando Torres come the start of June.
Vardy, 31, is apparently valued at £16 million (R239 million), but Atletico are believed to be willing to pay about £20 million (R337 million) for the attacker.
It has been said that the Foxes do not want to lose their English hitman, and talks between the two parties over a new deal have kicked off already.
Premier League outfit Arsenal tried to sign Vardy at the beginning of this season, but things fell flat, and the player ended up staying put with the Foxes.
The former Fleetwood Town star made 42 appearances for Leicester City this season, scoring 23 goals along the way.
