France superstar Antoine Griezmann deserved to be among the three finalists for The Best FIFA Men's Player award 2018, according to Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.
Simeone: Real Madrid Signing Wouldn't Get In My Team!
Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid's Luka Modric and Liverpool frontman Mohamed Salah will battle out for the prestigious award later this year, but Simeone feels it is bizarre Griezmann has been overlooked for the accolade.
"He hasn't had an explanation – World Cup winner, Super Cup, Europa League, second in LaLiga, the best player in the (World Cup) final," he said.
"In this past year, he was the best in the world. It is a pity. We do not underestimate ourselves to think that it is because he plays for Atletico, it will be a lack of imagination of people who choose.
"Obviously, it disappoints a little. But it's clear that Griezmann was the best last season."
