Barcelona's president has launched a verbal attack on a player who is said to be refusing to sign a new contract, angrily telling the star he can leave the club if he wishes to.
In recent weeks, it has been reported by the Spanish press that talented Blaugrana midfielder Ilaix Moriba has been banished from first-team training due to the teenager stalling in contract renewal discussions.
The 18-year-old made his debut for the senior side under Ronald Koeman last season, making 18 appearances across all competitions and contributing to four goals.
Club president Joan Laporta, known for being strong-willed and stubborn, has now broken his silence on the matter regarding Guinea-born Moriba, telling the player he must leave if he does not want to be at Barca.
"If you do not want to renew, we have other solutions," he said, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
"What we don't want are players made at La Masia who don't want to renew. The club is above all.
"We cannot allow him to be promoted (to the first team) and then leave.
"We won't accept that with any player. If he wants to go and it's because he has other options, he can leave the club."
Moriba, whose current contract expires next year, is a Spanish youth international despite his African roots, and is said to be of interest to several Premier League clubs.
