Kevin-Prince Boateng's loan move to FC Barcelona shocked many, but with his impact on the pitch since being minimal, the African forward has now hit a new low after not being included in his side's squad for the upcoming El Clasico.
Boateng, who joined the Catalan giants from Sassuolo on loan in January, has featured in just one LaLiga game – a 1-0 win over Real Valladolid – so far.
While he was on the bench in the three league fixtures ahead of his home debut for the Blaugrana, he was dropped from the squad for the Blaugrana's clash with Sevilla last weekend and has now once again not been called up for the upcoming Copa del Rey El Clasico.
Boateng was an unused sub in the first leg of the Copa semi-final, which ended 1-1, but has not been included in Ernesto Valverde's squad for the return fixture.
The Barca coach did, however, recently state that Boateng's bit-part role was made clear to him before he joined the Catalan giants.
"It is true that he is not participating much, he knew what was his role and have come to help us accepting these circumstances, which is clear to all," Valverde said after Barca's 4-2 victory over Sevilla, as quoted by FootballGhana.com.
Meanwhile, all of Barca's other main players were called up, including Arthur and Jasper Cillessen, who missed recent games due to injury.
Here is Barca's squad in full, as confirmed by the club's official Twitter account:
