Club record goalscorer Ronaldo joined Juventus last week, becoming Los Blancos' most expensive sale following his €100 million (R1.55 billion) departure, while Zidane is understood to be taking a sabbatical.
However, Lopetegui now needs to revamp a squad that has won three successive UEFA Champions League titles. Real are still looking to fill the void left by Ronaldo, but his strike partners Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale could be on their way out, according to AS.
The Frenchman is reportedly a target for new Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti, who would like to reunite with his former striker in Italy. Meanwhile, Bale has asked for reassurances over playing time after sitting on the bench for large parts towards the end of the 2017/18 campaign. It is believed that Lopetegui wants to give the Welshman a more dominant role after Ronaldo's exit from the Santiago Bernabeu, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can convince the 29-year-old to stay.
Midfielder Mateo Kovacic has publicly stated that he needs to assess his situation with the Spanish giants because he wants to play a more dominant role or leave too.
