De Jong snubbed reported advances from Premier League giants Manchester City and Ligue 1's Paris-Saint Germain to complete a five-year deal worth a staggering €75 million (R1.1 billion), plus €11 million (171 million) in add-ons, with the Catalan club.
The Netherlands international will join the Spanish giants at the end of the current season, and in doing so, will become part of a long list of Dutch players who have turned out for Barcelona over the years.
Johan Cruyff, credited as one of the founding philosophers of Barcelona's footballing philosophy, is arguably the most famous Netherlands international to have featured for the Spanish giants.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach and FIFA World Cup finalist Johan Neeskens is also on the list, having had a five-year stint with Barca between 1974 and 1979.
