Managers Julen Lopetegui and Ernesto Valverde will be looking to go into the 2018/19 campaign with the strongest sides possible, following the contrasting seasons both Spanish giants had last time around.
While Los Blancos dominated in the UEFA Champions League once again, the Blaugrana were domestically superior to any of their opposition. Despite both teams winning trophies, neither side will want to rest on their laurels.
The window has already seen players leave and join both Real and Barca, but there are far more players being linked with moves away from the clubs. For the Blaugrana, Andre Gomes could still join a new team before the beginning of the new campaign.
Sky Sports have linked the Portuguese midfielder with Arsenal, while Marca have claimed that Aleix Vidal could return to his former club Sevilla, while striker Paco Alcacer could also be gone by the beginning of the new season.
Defender Yerry Mina has been tipped to join Marcos Silva's Everton in the Premier League, as per Football Espana, while left-back Lucas Digne has also been linked with the Merseyside club.
At Real, midfielders Dani Ceballos and Mateo Kovacic could move on before the end of August, with the latter believed to be pushing for a transfer away from the Spanish giants.
Kovacic, a 2018 FIFA World Cup finalist with Croatia, is said to be after regular first-team football, and feels he might need to leave Los Blancos in order to get consistent playing time, while goalkeeper Keylor Navas has also been linked with a move away from Real.
Left-back Fabio Coentrao is likely to leave Los Blancos, while winger Gareth Bale's future at the club remains uncertain. The Welshman has reportedly been targeted by Manchester United, but reports in Spain suggest that the attacker could stay after all to play a key role under Lopetegui.
