Recent reports suggest that Xavi is eyeing the Barca first team job at some point in the future, amid rumours he could soon manage the club's "B" side, while Arsenal legend Henry is said to be among those in line to take over from Wenger, although there is no indication as to when that could be.

In Spain, Zinedine Zidane currently sits in the hot seat at Real Madrid, the club he starred for between 2001 and 2006. Because of his affiliation with Los Blancos, supporters were excited to see him being announced as first team boss in 2016, although he had been working for the club prior to that.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone represented the club in two separate spells as a player, the first being from 1994 until 1997, and the second from 2003 until 2005.

Staying in Spain, manager Ernesto Valverde is a former Barca player, while Athletic Bilbao boss Jose Angel Ziganda played for his club between 1992 and 1998.

Bournemouth's impressive young manager Eddie Howe spent most of his playing days at the Cherries, while in Italy, Gennaro Gattuso manages the club he made 467 appearance for as a player – AC Milan.

Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco used to star for the Giallorossi during his career, while Stefano Pioli represented Fiorentina as a player from 1989 until 1995.
