Zinedine Zidane: This Is What I Think Of Gareth Bale
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has told members of the media exactly what he thinks of Wales international Gareth Bale.
There have been claims that the former Tottenham Hotspur winger is only effective when Los Blancos decide to play counter-attacking football, a tactic the French manager has not adopted since taking over the club's hot seat.
However, Zidane believes the 28-year-old can play in a more rigid system when necessary.
"I think he is a complete player," Zidane said, as quoted by Football Espana.
"With the pace he possesses, he can inflict damage on any team when given space – as we saw the other day (against Real Sociedad).
"But he is also very strong technically and links well with other players in tight areas."
The Frenchman also touched on the hostile reception the player has been receiving at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks.
"Our stadium has whistled everyone, and I cannot think of anyone who has not faced it, but that is part of a career and can actually have benefits in itself," Zidane added.
"Sometimes it is good to realise when you are not playing well, but, of course, these are not always helpful and can go too far.
"I am not talking specifically about Bale but players in general – I went through that experience, and it encourages you to react and raise your level."
