Under-fire FC Barcelona Star Opens Up About His Struggles
An under-fire FC Barcelona star, who was linked with moves away from the club in the recent window, has now opened up about his struggles at the Camp Nou.
Midfielder Andre Gomes joined the Blaugrana from Valencia for €35 million (R555 million) last season, but has failed to live up to expectations.
The Portugal star, who has played only 104 minutes in five appearances under new coach Ernesto Valverde so far in this campaign, has now addressed his struggles at the club.
"Playing at Barcelona is not for everyone," Gomes told A Bola, as cited by Spanish publication Sport.
"In the past, I had moments which were really tough for me to go through."
The 24-year-old, who was part of Portugal's 2016 UEFA European Championship-winning side, was linked with a move to the Premier League in the latest transfer window, and he has admitted he could have left Barcelona.
"I had options to leave Barca, but nothing serious," he added.
Overall, Gomes has made 52 appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring three goals and assisting another three strikes.
