Villarreal 3-1 Athletic Bilbao
Villarreal clinched their third straight league win with a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday night.
Bruno handed the hosts the lead from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute, before Mario Gaspar doubled the advantage with a long range effort in the 67th minute.
Leo Baptistao rounded off the scoring for Villarreal in the 80th minute, before Aritz Aduriz bagged a consolation in stoppage time.
Sevilla 1-2 Celta Vigo
Sevilla's poor start to the season continued, as they went down 2-1 at the hands of high-flying Celta Vigo at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuá on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to goals from Nolito and Daniel Wass.
Sevilla did pull a goal back 54th minute through Fernando Llorente, which was his first goal for the club.
However, the visitors did have Jonny Castro sent off injury time, but they managed to hold on for the three points.
Deportivo La Coruna 2-3 Sporting Gijon
Sporting Gijon secured their first win of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday afternoon.
All five goals came in the first half with Sporting's Antonio Sanabria bagging a brace, while Alex Menendez's 34th minute strike turned out to be the winner for Sporting.
Las Palmas 0-1 Rayo Vallecano
Rayo Vallecano got their La Liga campaign up and running with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas at Gran Canaria on Sunday night.
The only goal of the game arrived just before the halftime break via close range effort from Javi Guerra.
