Cristiano Ronaldo scored and had a penalty saved as Real Madrid maintained their title charge with a 2-1 win over Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ronaldo and Karim Benzema returned to the Real line up after missing out against Deportivo La Coruna, while Gareth Bale is still out with injury.
Valencia nearly silenced the home fans after just two minutes when Santi Mina rattled the upright, after his initial effort was saved.
Real saw a lot of the ball in the opening 20 minutes but were finding it tough to break the down the visitors' defence.
The home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as Ronaldo rose well to head home Dani Carvajal's cross into the back of the net.
Both sides hardly threatened in the remaining stages of the first half, as Real went into the break with a deserved lead.
Los Blancos were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute when Dani Parejo was adjudged to have brought down Luka Mdric. Ronaldo stepped up but had his penalty comfortably saved by Diego Alvez.
Zidane opted for a change after 66 minutes as James Rodriguez made way for the highly-rated Marcos Asensio.
Valencia had the chance to level matters in the 71st minute when Montoya's cross inviting cross found Rodrigo, who headed wide of the upright from close range.
However, the visitors eventually leveled matters in the 82nd minute as Parejo sent a fine free-kick into the top corner.
Valencia's joy was short-lived as Marcelo rifled the ball into the bottom corner to restore Los Blancos' lead in the 86th minute and ultimately secured three points for Los Blancos.
