Result: Real Madrid 5-2 Osasuna
Date: 10 September 2016
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Cristiano Ronaldo scored on his return for Real Madrid, as they thumped Osasuna 5-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.
The Portuguese forward made a return to the line-up for the first time this season, while there was no palce in the squad for James Rodriguez and Isco.
It didn't take long Ronaldo to make his mark, as Gareth Bale broke the offside trap, before teeing up the Portuguese for the simple tap-in after six minutes.
Zinedine Zidane's charges were in full control but struggled to carve out clear-cut openings and were forced to shoot from distance.
Los Blancos eventually doubled their advantage in the 40th minute moments after Osasuna hit the woodwork, as Danilo slotted home from close range, although Perez should have done better.
The hosts managed to add a third goal on the stroke of halftime, as Sergio Ramos rose well to head home Toni Kroos' corner into the roof of the net.
Real bagged their fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half, as Pepe towered home a header after getting on the end of Kroos' corner.
The hosts continued to push and netted a fifth goal in the 62nd minute, as Luka Modric, who found the back of the net with a neat finish from edge of the box,
Osasuna pulled one back in the two minutes later when De La Cuevas picked out Oriol Riera, who headed home at the far post.
The visitors were then awarded a penalty, which Riera missed. However, they reduced the deficit in the 79th minute thanks to a header from David Garcia.
The clash ended on a sour note for the visitors, as Bonnin picked up two yellow cards in the space of five minutes and was given an early shower.
