Spanish La Liga
Result: Real Madrid 1-1 Levante
Date: 09 September 2017
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Real Madrid, who were without Cristiano Ronaldo, dropped points again, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was the visitors who took a surprising lead in the 13th minute as Dani Carvajal misjudged the bounce of the ball, which allowed Ivi to sneak in and slot home from close range.
Los Blancos were struggling to carve out chances and they were dealt a blow after 27 minutes when Karim Benzema was forced off with an injury. He was replaced by Gareth Bale.
The hosts eventually leveled matters in the 36th minute when Lucas Vazquez fired home from close range after Sergio Ramos' header was saved.
Bale then went close to handing Real the lead just before the break, but he failed to beat Fernandez in a one-on-one situation.
Levante nearly restored their lead in the 51st minute but Real shot-stopper Kiko Casilla produced a good save to deny Alegria.
With Los Blancos struggling to find the back of the net, Zinedine Zidane introduced Isco for Marcos Llorente after 62 minutes.
Los Blancos continued to push a for the go-ahead goal and they went close in the 83rd minute as Marco Asensio's curling effort was turned away by Fernandez.
The hosts were then reduced to 10 men in the 88th minute when Marcelo was shown straight red for kicking out at Pedro Lopez.
However, Zidane's charges were unable to find the back of the net as Toni Kroos hit the post in stoppage time, and were forced to settle for a point.
