Spanish La Liga
Result: Real Madrid 2-0 Levante
Date: 15 March 2015
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
A brace from Gareth Bale handed Real Madrid a 2-0 win over Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night.
Cristiano Ronaldo nearly broke the deadlock as early as the fourth minute when he collected a pass from Karim Benzema, before striking the upright from six-yards out.
Gareth Bale then went close in the 16th minute, as his towering header was palmed away by Levante shot-stopper, Diego Marino.
However, the Welshman was not to be denied two minutes later when he was quickest to react to a weak clearance and volleyed the ball home from 12-yards out.
The lead was doubled just before the halftime break, as Luka Modric picked out Ronaldo, who's effort deflected in off Bale.
Madrid went in search of a third goal and were nearly rewarded in the 64th minute, as Karim Benzema's acrobatic strike crashed against the upright.
Ronaldo, who was visibly frustrated throughout the game, should have added a third for Madrid in the 90th minute but the Portuguese placed his effort well over the crossbar from six-yards out.
Levante, meanwhile, were chasing shadows for large parts of the game and were restricted to long range efforts, none of which forced Keylor Navas into a save.
A brace from Carlos Bacca inspired Sevilla to a 3-0 win over Elche.
Goals from Juanmi and Nordin Amrabat earned Malaga a 2-0 win over Cordoba.
Almeria and Villarreal shared the spoils after they drew 0-0, while Atheltic Bilbao claim a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday night.
