Atletico Madrid have locked up third spot, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
After a quiet opening, It was Betis who nearly broke the deadlock after 11 minutes but Jan Oblak produced a fine save to deny Joaquin in a one-on-one situation.
The home side looked livelier for most of the opening 20 minutes although the Atletico defence put in a solid shift to deny them the lead.
Diego Simeone's charges only started seeing more of the ball after 30 minutes, although they struggled to force Adan into any serious saves.
The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Yannick Carrasco and Kevin Gameiro cut frustrated figures in the latter stages of first, as the sides went into the break all square.
After a quiet start to the half, Betis broke the deadlock in the 57th minute courtesy of a superb strike from Dani Ceballos, who beat Oblak with a powerful volley from 25-yards out.
Atleti eventually leveled matters in the 71st minute when defender Stefan Savic turned home Saul Niguez's free-kick.
Diego Simeone opted for a surprise change with 15 minutes to play as Griezmann made way for Thomas Partey.
Atletico pushed for a wining goal in the closing stages but were unable to bypass the Betis defence again, as they settled for a share of the spoils.
